Teacup or a Soup bowl

“The times are changing; everyone is becoming an entrepreneur. Nobody wants to work for anyone again. I have been looking for a job for some months now, and I can’t seem to find any. All the good jobs can suck the life from your soul, I need to go online and learn how to become a freelancer, and from there, I will start my own company. I will not work under any man; I will build my empire”.
“Ola are you done with your bants; my ears are hurting.”
“I swear, I will make this money.”
“Oh, you are not done yapping.”
“My name is Olaoluwa; even God endorses my wealth.”
“Guy see, no one is saying you will not make money in this life; I am saying, are you supposed to be an entrepreneur? If you even want to be one, why can’t you work under an establishment for a while and then use the knowledge gained to build your Ola Empire?”
Ola is getting really worked up right now. This guy thinks like the older generation. Ola can not understand why his friend does not understand what he has been preaching, does he want him to roam the streets for several years. He needs to fail fast and learn quick.
“Ola, I understand your point. As a matter of fact, I am going to be an entrepreneur, but I don’t think you are cut out to be one.”
“What does that even mean?”
“Imagine a Tundra aspiring to be a like Sedan because the Sedans are for fancy occasions. Or a teacup aspiring to be a flat plate, because a flat plate serves more dishes.”
“So you are calling me a teacup.”
“Yes, you are a teacup fam!”
“So you are the flat plate, I can see you are dumb.”
“No, I am like a soup bowl.”
“Haha, what rubbish are you spewing.”
“Ok, I will explain in simple terms. You need to know your strengths Ola and plan your future on your strengths; you don’t need to be like someone else. As a teacup, you have one primary function, to serve tea and beverages, you need to learn how to do that very well and to succeed while at it. A flat plate might seem versatile, but it can never serve tea. You can look for other things you can do as a teacup like baking or serve as DIY ornaments. You can find other 25 things you can do as a teacup online. Find those other strengths of yours, don’t try to develop the strength of another.”
“So, how are you a soup bowl?”
“Haha, did you listen to me at all?”
“I did, I think I get what you are saying. So I may not be entrepreneur material?”
“I think you are terrific with accounting, and you know how to manage people, even those above you. I think there are other strengths you have, don’t go looking for the ones that some else has. The best of your strengths could be when you manage high-level international companies. I am a soup bowl, not as versatile as a flat plate, but I have the shrewdness required to start a business. Seeing as I lack the knowledge it takes, I will work under an establishment for a while and build capacity.”
“How did you get so wise?”
“When you buy a phone, it comes with instructions on how to use it. my dear Ola, I read my manual.”
